“This competition is designed to reduce unemployment through self-employment” said Alterraon (Al) Phillips, GBDCEI Chairman of the Board. Annette Gray, GBDCEI founder, is emphatic about the definition of family. “Family does not have to include a parent; team compilation can include two cousins, aunts uncles, LGBTQ families, adopted and foster families, said Gray. However, each team must include a young adult. The maximum age of the young adult participant has been increased from 25 to 40. The competition is now open to start-up business and business that were established within the past two years.

The application deadline has been extended to October 19, 2018.
